Little Pied Cormorant

The Little Pied Cormorant (Microcarbo melanoleucos) is a native of Australia waterbird. It will be found on mainland Australia and Tasmania, and Pacific Islands. It has a black upper body with white underneath, which can be up to 55 centimetres long. It has a short yellow-brown bill.

When not in the water diving for food, the Little Pied Cormorant will be seen hanging his wings out to dry.

Little Pied Cormorants nest in colonies but hunt individually catching fish and tabbies by diving underwater. They are carnivorous. They will be found in wetlands including swamps and coastal bays.
