I must confess I have a love of trees. I have fond memories of Arbor Day while at primary school; all students took part in planting trees in the school surrounds. I was taught that trees purified the air. I was also taught that the Amazon jungle was considered the “lungs of the earth”. So why are we so quick to clear the forests and jungles?
