The Princess Tree

These are the leaves of the Chinese Princess Tree. This particular specimen is located in the Botanic Gardens at Colac, in Victoria, Australia. This tree still is quite young standing about 1.5 metres. Princess Trees can grow to 10 to 25 metres tall. I was fascinated by the unusual hair covered leaves.

Genus: Paulownia

Species: P. tomentosa

Tomentosa is derived from latin meaning “covered in hairs”.
